Melvin could swear that Bianca was a monitoring spirit. Since she refused to leave his family home even after his father had threatened that she should leave, she has been in his shadow. Due to the running of the church and a lot of other issues including his mother’s health and Kentura’s disappearance, Melvin hadn’t been able to send her back to her family with the message that they weren’t yet married which meant that their daughter couldn’t move into his home yet.

Very early that morning, Bianca had prepared breakfast which he hadn’t even bother tasting and now, that he was seated outside in the garden and thinking of what new surprises life had in store for him, she walked up to him.

“Hey, hubby…” She greeted.

He didn’t acknowledge her greeting, instead, he looked away.

“I was wondering when we are announcing our engagement to the church. Tomorrow is Sunday and it will be the perfect day to announce it.” She said.

When Melvin didn’t answer, she pushed her left hand under his nose.

“Look! I got an engagement ring since you were taking so much time.” She said.

When Melvin didn’t reply, she stomped her foot hard on the ground.

“I hate it when you ignore me! I know you’re thinking of that woman…that miserable lady you brought into our home and…”

Melvin stared at her.

“What in the world are you talking about?” He asked.

“Tell me the truth, you love that useless woman don’t you?” She spat.

Melvin stood up to leave the garden, annoyed that she was determined in disturbing his peace.

“Melvin! I am talking to you! I am your wife and I’m talking to you!” Bianca shouted.

“We are not married yet, Bianca, the introduction is on Monday. Please go home and stop causing trouble.” He said.

“No one can send me home because I am a time-bomb waiting to explode. If I leave this house, I am going to announce to the church about my pregnancy, whether you like it or not.”

Melvin didn’t reply, he walked away from her.

Bianca watched Melvin leave and stamped her foot in anger. She brought out her phone and dialled a number.

“Hello…”

“Blessed greetings from the mountain.” Prophetess Antonia responded.

“Prophetess…things are not working as I planned.”

“As you planned? What did you plan?” The prophetess asked.

“Melvin is ignoring me…it’s like we’re strangers, living in the same house. This is not what I want. I want him to love me…” She cried.

“Calm down daughter.”

“I can’t calm down! I am so angry because I know that he’s thinking of that woman…that evil witch who was living in his home.”

“Hmmm…is she still there?”

“Still where?”

“I am asking if the lady is still in his home.”

“No, she’s not but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t think of her. Prophetess, I need your help urgently…I need Melvin to love me…”

“When you came here with your mother, your intention was for Melvin to make you his wife and not for love.”

“I change my mind, I want him to love me…” Bianca cried.

“You will have to come for consultation.”

“When? Tell me the day and time and I’ll be there…” Bianca said.

***************

Ijeoma stood outside her gate and waited, where in the world did Kentura go? She wondered. She had been waiting for about an hour and there was no sign of her.

Suddenly, a taxi cab pulled up to the front of her house and Kentura alighted dressed in a very short dress. The dress was actually a long top to be worn with a pair of leggings or trousers as the case maybe but Kentura was wearing hers like that, which was clearly unlike the Kentura she used to know.

“Kentura…where have you been? I woke up this morning to find you gone.” Ijeoma said.

“Well…I had places to go…” Alicia said.

Ijeoma looked at her strangely, this wasn’t the woman she knew, this woman was different.

“I am going to sleep now, I have had a very busy night.” She said and walked away from her.

Ijeoma watched as she made her way into the house, tossed her phone and purse on the sofa and headed to the bedroom. She felt so disappointed at her friend. She was about stepping into the kitchen when she heard Kentura’s phone ring. phone.

“Kentura…” She started but on second thoughts, she took the phone and answered the call.

“Hello…good morning.”

“Kentura, it’s me, Eunice…please don’t hang up.”

“This is not Kentura, it’s Ijeoma…her friend.”

“Oh…I need to speak with Kentura.”

“I think she’s asleep…”

“Where is she? I’d like to come and see her…”

“She’s at my house. Please, can I ask who you are?”

“I am Melvin’s mother.”

“Oh…really? The GO’s wife? Good morning madam, I am sorry that I…”

“It’s okay…please send me your address so that I can come and see her. We are all worried about her. Melvin told me that he’s been calling her phone to no avail so I asked him to give me her number and luckily, you answered.”

“Okay, ma…I’ll send you my address as soon as possible.” Ijeoma said.

The priestess stared at the fire in the pot and closed her eyes, the battle was going to be more difficult than she’d imagined but she really needed a successor and Kentura was her only hope. Once she was able to get Kentura, she was sure that she would, in turn, win over her brother and very soon, the very godly Melvin. Their dynasty was slowing dying as most of her relatives’ children were turning to Christianity. Since their forefathers and mothers had sworn that their children will never serve any other god but the gods they were born to serve, calamity had befallen most of those who’d followed God and only a few knew that they had to renounce all claims to the old tradition and cut all ties in order to be fully saved. She was going to punish her children for deserting her and for leaving the traditions of the family behind all in the search for the new God. She knew that God was all powerful and great but then, she didn’t know Him and she was sure that He didn’t love her as much as He loved his other Christian children besides, the devil had done so many things for her and had also prolonged her years that she had been promised a full life of one hundred and seventeen before she moved over to the other side.

Eunice’s mother looked at the flames in anger, this was her chance to punish Eunice for deserting her and for leaving the traditions of the family behind all in the search for the new God.

She knew that God was all powerful and great but then, she had served the devil for too long to suddenly switch lanes. Besides, he was good to her and had promised to prolong her years in this world, if she stayed faithful to him.

Her two young attendants sat cross-legged beside her, they too, stared at the fire and saw what she was seeing.

“Is it time?” One of them asked in a hopeful voice as she couldn’t wait for the challenge.

She looked at them and smiled.

“Yes.”
